Guava is believed to be native to southern Mexico or central and tropical America. It is cultivated and distributed throughout the tropics of America and in the West Indies, Bermuda and southern Florida. It has been adopted as a crop in Asia and warm regions of Africa. Guava is a tropical and semi-tropical plant and can be found as a common ground cover near roads and in wasteland in Hawaii. In India, it is a cash crop and cultivated throughout the country.
